The Portugal international has signed a two-year deal at Ibrox after leaving Cagliari in Serie A, and he’s looking to add to his collection of league titles.
As well as claiming a winner’s medal for his country during the European championships in France last summer, Alves has won seven different championships in three different countries.
And despite being in the twilight of his career, the 35-year-old seems intent on making is eight titles from four countries.
Speaking to Rangers TV, via the Daily Record, Alves said: “I have this feeling and this desire to win and I think to move here will bring this back to me and to my career.
“At almost all the clubs I have played for I win, and I expect to win here for the fans and for the club; I think I can do this here.
“I want to be a champion again. This is one of the best feelings that I have in my career and the last time I was a champion at a club was in Fenerbahce. I want to have this feeling again.
“I think I come here for the right reasons and I think that I can bring this back to the club.”
Despite only arriving in Glasgow for talks yesterday, Alves will now jet out to Portugal to join up with his national team ahead of this summer’s Confederations Cup in Russia.
But his comments today will be music to the ears of Rangers supporters.
Surely he’s an upgrade on the likes of Kiernan, Senderos and Hill, no? What do you think?
