Manchester United Fans Are Raving About Matteo Darmian’s Display v Ajax

Manchester United are playing in their first European final since 2011 tonight and some of you might be surprised to learn Matteo Darmian is the hero of the evening so far.

A right-back by trade, the Italian international has been transformed into a stand-in left-back by Jose Mourinho this season, and put in a stellar first-half display against Ajax in tonight’s Europa League final.

Despite playing against one of the paciest and most gifted young sides on the continent, Darmian remained composed, calm and strong throughout.

Pretty much ever since he arrived in Manchester, Darmian has been followed by rumours that he might be sold by the Red Devils, but Jose and the club’s hierarchy should take a quick glance at social media before doing anything too rash:

Is Matteo Darmian the least likely hero for a British team in a European final that you can think of?

And will he still even be at Old Trafford next season?
