Real Madrid have just won their first La Liga title in five years, but their goalkeeper Keylor Navas has a few more important things on his mind.
The Costa Rica international has been between the sticks for Los Blancos ever since impressing for his country during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but despite his excellent standard, will face a fight for the club’s starting spot probably from David de Gea this summer.
With that on his mind, you’d think the only thing on Navas’s mind would be chats with his agent and planning his next big-money transfer – but if you think that, you’d be sorely mistaken.
He posted this on his Instagram following Real’s domestic triumph last night:
In case your Spanish is like ours and not too hot, it translates as: “Thank god we won!! This title is dedicated to my family and to all the children who undergo very strong treatments and their hair falls out. Many strength families, lots of faith that God never leaves us!! Hala Madrid and pure life!!”
What an amazing tribute that will leave so many boys and girls feeling a little bit better today.
Keylor Navas, we have a new found respect for you, sir. Well played, sir.
Well played indeed.
