It’s the time of year football fans love, with new jersey after new jersey released just about every day, but German side Schalke have taken the biscuit with their new state-of-the-art shirt.
The Bundesliga giants have become the first elite football team in Europe to start wearing ‘smart’ clothing, and their new royal blue home strip will come complete with a payment chip embedded in the sleeve.
But what’s it all in aid of?

It should definitely make going for a snack at half-time a lot more hassle-free.
But what do you think of the new exciting innovation? Would you like to see teams in the UK start to follow Schalke’s lead?
