Tony Watt Denies Link With Blackburn: “Last Time I Was There I Lost My Groin”

Ex-Celtic midfielder Tony Watt has appeared to squash reports that he could re-join Blackburn, joking his injury troubles escalated at Ewood Park.

Watt has struggled to settle at a club since leaving Celtic in 2014, having short spells at Cardiff City, Blackburn and Standard Liege.

The forward, who memorably scored the winner against Barcelona in the Champions League back in 2012, spent the first half of last season on loan at Hearts before returning to his parent club Charlton in January.

And with the 23-year-old seemingly on the move again this summer, a Rovers fan Tweeted Watt asking him to return to the club after injuries limited him to just nine appearances.

However, Watt’s response clarified that he won’t be returning to the League One side, as the last time he played there he lost his groin:

Whether Watt ever surpasses the moment when he sealed a historic victory against Barcelona remains to be seen, however, he certainly has the chops on Twitter to remain relevant.
