As has been a recurring theme this season, Arsenal were forced to rely on Alexis Sanchez to get them out of a hole against Sunderland at the Emirates tonight.
As we told you earlier on, the Gunners went into the game knowing nothing short of three points would keep alive their faint hopes of finishing in the Premier League’s top four and qualifying for the Champions League, but despite the important nature of the fixture, thousands of fans failed to turnout.
And the apathy seemed to seep into the players too, with Arsene Wenger’s side huffing and puffing but really struggling to break down a team who are already relegated and boast the worst defensive record in the division.
But just as it looked like we were heading for a 0-0 draw when Sanchez popped up with a goal as he so often does:

That’s his 22nd goal of the campaign – surely Arsenal simply can’t afford to lose him this summer?
