Charlie Mulgrew scored a free kick this afternoon that Shunsuke Nakamura would be proud of.
The Scottish defender now turns out for Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship after leaving Celtic in the summer.
But he produced a moment of magic that reminded us of another former Hoops player – Japanese legend Nakamura.
Standing over a free kick from a wide angle on the right, Mulgrew bent a beautiful shot into the top corner to give Blackburn the lead in what is a must-win game for their hopes of staying in the Championship:

That is a superb strike from Mulgrew – and one similar to the many scored by Nakamura while he was at Celtic.
Blackburn lead Brentford 2-0 at half-time of their game at Griffin Park, but rivals Nottingham Forest are also winning and, if those results stayed the same, it would be Rovers who are relegated to League One on the final day.
Both teams would be on 51 points, but Forest have scored eight goals more and that would see them avoid the drop.
