Cristiano Ronaldo has earned Real Madrid some breathing room in tonight’s Champions League semi-final against Atletico by scoring his second goal.
Ronaldo rose above the Atleti defence in the first 10 minutes, scoring a trademark bullet header which gave Jan Oblak no chance.
However, while the Portuguese’s first goal was one to be admired for pure grit and determination, his second which earned Real a 2-0 lead was even better.
Some wonderful build up play from Real saw Karim Benzema pick the ball up on the edge of Atletico’s box, before sliding a pass to Ronaldo.
The Balon d’Or winner then shrugged off Filipe Luís and lashed a thunderous shot into the net:
He's at it again!?
Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored more Champions League knockout goals (7) than Atletico Madrid (6).

While Diego Simeone has earned major plaudits throughout his managerial career for inspiring his players and making his team hard to beat, it’s hard to see Atletico mounting a serious comeback tonight.
They may have to wait until next week, when the sides meet again for the second leg at the Vicente Caulderon.
