Video: Granit Xhaka’s Passing Against Sunderland Was Incredible

Granit Xhaka has had a difficult first season at Arsenal – but his performance against Sunderland last night shows what he could offer the team on a more consistent basis.

The Swiss international was a £30million signing from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer and was immediately thrown into the starting XI after his arrival.

But he’s been more miss than hit in a campaign that’s frustrated Arsenal fans.

They might be going for the FA Cup, but they’ve got a job on to finish in the top four and were knocked out of the Champions League after losing 10-2 on aggregate to Bayern Munich earlier in the season.

If Arsenal to improve, they’ll need to make some big changes in the summer – and more quality Xhaka performances may help that.

So fans still hopeful that he’s the answer for them in midfield would have been delighted to see his range of passing in last night’s 2-0 win over Sunderland:

Xhaka made 96 passes in the game and was a big part of a polished performance for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Now, if he can start doing that more consistently while adding goals and assists to his game, the midfielder could have a long-term future at the Emirates.
