Real Madrid have all but qualified for the Champions League final tonight – thanks to an astonishing bit of skill from their striker Karim Benzema.

Los Blancos were hot favourites to progress from their semi-final against city rivals Atletico Madrid tonight after winning the first-leg 3-0 last week, but the hosts rallied and found themselves 2-0 up after just 15 minutes tonight.

It looked like Ateltico were on the brink of an extraordinary comeback, but just before half-time, Isco pulled one back for Real – and he really owes Benzema a big thank you for his assist in the run-up:

That goal left the tie at 4-2 to Real on aggregate, but the away goals rule means Atletico would actually require three more goals to progress – and there’s no chance of extra-time or penalties.

What a wonderful piece of skill from Benzema though, eh?

With all of the stars at Real’s disposal, it’s easy to forget he’s even still at the club, but what a way to refresh our memories.
