If you’re a Celtic fan hoping to see a batch of fresh faces arrive in the near distant future then we’ve got some bad news for you.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has hinted that he could sign just one more player before the Champions League qualifiers kick off.
The treble-winners have already snapped up Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes on a three-year contract in a £1.3million deal that sees Ryan Christie head back to Pittodrie for the coming season.
And their attempts to bring back fan’s favourite Patrick Roberts look to be dead in the water with around 12 clubs desperate to seal the Manchester City youngster’s signature.
But Rodgers insists he won’t be rushed into any deals before the European qualifiers kick off next month, insisting that he wants to get through the fixtures with the current players to prove they are better a year on.
He said: “There are two players in particular. Jonny was one and there is another I would hope we can get in.
“Then I just want to get through the qualifiers with the players who have got us through, knowing they are a year better on.
“I also want to just wait and see because I know the market in England and the rest of Europe well.
“I know how it works. It’s later on in the window before players of real quality become available.
“I want to bring the best possible players into here.”
Celtic confirmed yesterday that they would not be taking up their ticket allocation for the away tie against Linfield should they face Northern Irish champions next month.
