Is Cesar Azpilicueta Set to Change Squad Numbers This Summer?

Cesar Azpilicueta looks set to change squad numbers at Chelsea this summer.

The Spanish defender is enjoying his off-season after one of his most impressive campaigns for the club.

Under Antonio Conte, he’s been transformed into a commanding centre back in a defensive three and looks like he could be at home in the Chelsea backline for years to come.

Azpilicueta currently wears number 28 for Chelsea and has done since signing for the club from Marseille in 2012.

You’d think his strong form may see him given a number within the traditional team numbers of one to 11.

But it looks like he could be coming down two numbers to take 26 – with this story from storelli.com perhaps giving his squad number change away:

He’s listed alongside the other Sportelli athletes – all of whom have their correct numbers except Azpilicueta.

So is he set for a change going into the new season? It looks likely.

Chelsea won’t confirm their squad numbers until the end of July so we’ll have to wait until then to get confirmation on Azpilicueta’s
