The Stoke City midfielder took to Twitter this morning to comment on a screengrab that has been doing the rounds through the night and this morning.
Apparently, Adam sent this tweet – which was later ‘deleted’:
Usually these screengrabs appear across multiple accounts if a tweet was genuinely sent by someone before quickly being deleted.
But this appeared on just one account before spreading across social media so it looks more likely to be a fake.
And Adam has claimed that it wasn’t sent by him either:
This tweet I've been sent was not posted by me … ??

If you search for Charlie Adam on Twitter, you’ll see a lot of excited Dundee fans struggling to believe that the midfielder could be about to sign for them.
He’s never actually played for the Dens Park club in his career, but grew up supporting them and some took his ‘deleted tweet’ as indication that he’s going to realise a boyhood dream by signing for them.
Rangers fans could even have taken the picture as indication that he’s on his way back to Ibrox.
Adam started his career with the Glasgow giants, scoring 18 goals in 88 appearances before leaving for Blackpool and a successful career in English football.
