Everybody Feels Sorry For Claude Puel After His Sacking By Southampton

Claude Puel has officially been sacked by Southampton and just about every football fan in the land feels a bit of sympathy for the understated French coach.

Puel arrived at St. Mary’s less than a year ago after an impressive stint in charge of Nice in Ligue 1, and managed to guide the Saints to the EFL Cup final – where they lost narrowly to Manchester United – and an eighth-place finish in the Premier League.

On top of that, he managed to pull it off without Jose Fonte and Virgil van Dijk from January after one left for West Ham and the other suffered ligament damage in his foot.

What more do the powers that be at Southampton really expect? When you consider that Man Utd finished 6th- where do Southampton’s hierarchy reckon they should’ve finished?

What do you think of the news? Is the sacking really as harsh as everybody is making out?
