First-Ever Carabao Cup Draw Descends into Chaos With Charlton Drawn Out Twice

First-Ever Carabao Cup Draw Descends into Chaos With Charlton Drawn Out Twice

The first-ever Carabao Cup draw didn’t go exactly to plan earlier today as Charlton Athletic were drawn out of the hat not once but twice.

As we told you earlier this week, we told you how the EFL Cup was technically no more after the Thai energy drinks company Carabao had invested in sponsoring the competition for next season at least.

As the men with the money, the hierarchy at Carabao had put their foot down and insisted the first round draw take place in their own backyard of Thailand – much to the annoyance of British football fans who reckon the game is now dead.

The draw was eventually streamed live on Facebook earlier today, with Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit helping out, but it wasn’t long before the stream became inaudible – and teams started being drawn out twice:

At least it’s not just in Scotland that officials can get a cup draw hideously wrong, eh.

It’s probably safe to say the next draw will be taking place in the UK.
