Following an intense spree of speculation on social media, Hearts have released an official statement regarding the future of midfielder Jamie Walker today.
Hearts’ director of football Craig Levein revealed earlier this week that Walker has indicated he is keen to leave Tynecastle, with Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha reportedly interested in his signature.
However, Walker’s dad responded to the story on social media, shooting down Levein’s comments:
Jamie walkers dad on the news walker asked to leave… Levein talking shite again surely not!!! pic.twitter.com/P3XQbhMmUH

And in a latest development, Hearts have moved to correct the situation, publishing a statement on their website which clarifies Walker was offered and agreed to a new deal, before changing his mind:
It appears from the statement that the story has clearly infuriated the club’s hierarchy, claiming the accusations that Levein wasn’t telling the truth are “insulting”.
Whether Walker had expressed a desire to leave the club or not, this latest development may make Walker’s exit all the more likely during the off-season.
