
Today hasn’t been great for former Aberdeen and Celtic winger Joe Miller, after Linfield debunked his account of a friendly with the Northern Irish side back in the 1990’s – leading to some epic social media trolling.
In a statement released late on Monday night, Linfield replied to Miller’s claim in the Daily Record that he and team-mates played at Windsor Park under the pressure of having ‘red dots’ focused on them throughout, apparently in reference to laser rangefinders used on rifles.
Miller also claimed he and Derek Whyte were confronted by locals after the match, which allegedly took place in 1995 – but Linfield claim to have NEVER played against Aberdeen and Derek Whyte didn’t move to Pittodrie until 1997.
Linfield’s statement damningly summarised that Miller’s story is ‘demonstrably untrue’ – leading to some pretty funny tweets:
