Javier Hernandez is Tipping Luka Modric to win This Year’s Ballon d’Or

Javier Hernandez is tipping former Spurs midfielder Luka Modric to win this year’s Ballon d’Or award following the Croatian’s strong show in the Champions League final.

As you’ll probably already be aware, the Ballon d’Or is given out once a year to the player voted the greatest footballer on planet Earth over the previous 12 months, and since 2007, either Leo Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo have taken home the gone.

Following a Ronaldo-inspired Champions League triumph for Real Madrid last night – and Portugal’s win at Euro 2016 – Cristiano Ronaldo looks odds on to claim the award for the fifth time in his career when the prize is dished out in the winter.

But former Manchester United striker Hernandez wants Modric to be given more recognition for his spellbinding displays in the middle of the park:

Usually in football, prizes are handed out to the goalscorers and match winners; the midfield schemers rarely get a look in.

But what do you make of the suggestion? Should Modric be given more praise for his form this year?
