Linfield against Celtic is the talk of social media this afternoon after they were paired together in Champions League qualifying.
The Hoops enter the competition in the second round of qualifying and learned of their opponents at a draw in Switzerland this afternoon.
They avoided tough away trips to Bosnia and Macedonia and, instead, landed either Linfield or San Marino side La Fiorita.
And considering La Fiorita have scored just one goal in European competition, it looks likely that Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic team will travel to Northern Ireland to face Linfield in the first leg of their qualifier on July 12th – falling on The Twelfth, an event which should be celebrated on the streets of Belfast.
Linfield have a close connection with supporters of Rangers and, as you can expect, reaction to the potential tie has been dominating social media this morning:
There’s no doubting that there could be trouble at this fixture regardless of when it’s played, but the reaction perhaps hits home how dangerous it could be on July 12th.
Celtic fans – would you travel to Belfast for that fixture?
