Mikael Lustig Hails Jonny Hayes as the “Hardest Winger” He’s Ever Played Against

Mikael Lustig claims Celtic have signed the “hardest winger” he has ever played against in new recruit Jonny Hayes.

The Hoops plundered Aberdeen to sign the Irishman earlier this month after he had a “30 second” conversation with manager Brendan Rodgers.

Hayes made his first Celtic appearance in a friendly against Austrian side Linz earlier this week and has admitted he “loved” every minute of his debut.

And while Sweden international Lustig has lined up against Barcelona superstar Neymar, he still thinks Hayes is a harder player.

Speaking to the club’s official Twitter account as part of a Q&A with Celtic supporters, Lustig hailed Hayes:

Whether the 30-year-old is being quite honest with his answer remains to be seen, as he could simply be looking to extend a warm welcome to the former Dons star.

Lustig was also asked if he likes the new Celtic away strip, ahead of tomorrow’s kit launch at the club’s Superstore.

And the defender couldn’t help but take the opportunity to have a dig at his teammate Leigh Griffiths:

Lustig was a key figure as Celtic captured a historic domestic-treble last season and Rodgers will surely lean on the 30-year-old’s experience next season.
