After trophy-laden spells at Sevilla, Barcelona and Juventus, Alves is regarded as one of the best full-backs in the world, possibly of all-time, and is one of the most decorated players in world football.
But at 34, he’s no spring chicken, and given Man City fans have been crying out for an injection of youth, Alves’s arrival on a two-year deal – according to Goal.com – doesn’t exactly herald a new dawn.
Like we said, some fans are on board:

Dani Alves off to #MCFC on a two-year deal. Amazing news. He's going to take the PL by storm; been a while since the PL had a legendary RB.

Dani Alves is a winner, he wins wherever he goes. Great signing by Man city.

Dani Alves at #MCFC will be a blast. No more popular player with supporters in my opinion. Straight up guy who lives life to the fullest.

Don't get it twisted. Dani Alves is the best in his position in the world. If not, deffo top 2. https://t.co/P8A0eEOIQE

But other’s aren’t so keen on the transfer:
— Feduzz (@FedericaTrunfio) June 20, 2017
Sack Dani Alves off and bring Richard Dunne back I say
— Ben Warner ? (@ben_mcr) June 20, 2017
Best full-back itw? The best full-back itw destroyed him in the final. Put some respect on Marcelos name. Greatest LB, ever. https://t.co/mzlhSCNLZb

Pep got rid of Zabaleta ( 32 ) coz he's aging and he wants more youthful wing backs, goes out and signs Dani Alves ( 34 )
— Neil Larsen (@neiljohnlarsen) June 20, 2017
Dani Alves and Alexis headed to City. What progress for that great academy they've bent raving about for years now. Excellent.
— Tito in Miami (@Tito305Sports) June 20, 2017
They said they had an ageing defence and their solution is signing Dani Alves ??
— T (@teesh_aay) June 20, 2017
Dani Alves is a bitch.
— Veres Szilárd (@pokembersegg) June 20, 2017
I see Dani Alves is going to man city.. He's no fraud just yet but best believe he's gonna be exposed.
— DKK (@Danielki_) June 20, 2017
Dani Alves to City has to be one of the stupidest signings this summer. Man is 34 & hasn't defended in years. Seriously, what does he bring?
— Paul (@RealPaulMadison) June 20, 2017
Dani Alves is great but they were complaining all season about getting younger and signing a 35 yr old RB to start doesn't quite do that
— PreCheck Papi (@IcebergAk) June 20, 2017
If you ask us, there’s no doubt it’ll be fun seeing Alves strutting his stuff in the Premier League, but what do you think of his arrival?
Is Pep Guardiola pulling off a shrewd deal? Or a risky move?
