Should Rangers Be Interested in Danny’s Exit From Zenit?

Could Rangers be an interested party after Danny exited Zenit St Petersburg today?

The Ibrox club are busy planning for next season and have already made moves in the transfer market to strengthen their squad.

Ryan Jack was the first to sign on a pre-contract from Aberdeen and was followed by Portuguese defender Bruno Alves.

Pedro Caixinha has used his continental contacts to line up a number of other targets – including Mexicans Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera as well as Portuguese duo Fabio Cardoso and Dalcio.

And there should be more to come as Rangers look to bridge the gap to Celtic and Aberdeen next term.

But could Danny be one of Caixinha’s targets? The pair spent time together at Sporting Lisbon earlier in their careers and the Portuguese midfielder is now available after his contract at Zenit expired:

If Rangers are really serious about competing with Celtic then signings like Danny have to be considered realistic.

But the 33-year-old attacking midfielder would no doubt demand high wages and that could be one of several stumbling blocks in getting him to Scotland.

Rangers fans – would you welcome Danny at Ibrox?
