Shay Logan: I Don’t Hate Celtic

Shay Logan insists he doesn’t hate Celtic – but dislikes those who dislike him for the wrong reasons or no reason.

The Aberdeen defender seems to be never far away from controversy when it comes to Celtic.

It started when Logan accused then Hoops winger Aleksandar Tonev of racial abuse, with the Bulgarian was found guilty of before being hit with a seven-game ban.

He was then given a one-match ban in 2014 after using “foul and abusive language” following a game against Celtic.

And Logan was involved again when Celtic played Aberdeen at Pittodrie in May, bouncing the ball off Leigh Griffiths’ head and appearing to get involved with some gesturing with the travelling supporters.

He wished Jonny Hayes good luck after the Irishman signed for the Scottish champions this afternoon, but joked that he’d have a pocket saved for his former team-mate when they play against each other next season.

It’s no secret Celtic fans aren’t keen on Logan and the feeling seems mutual. But the full-back insists he doesn’t hate them after being asked by a fan on Twitter tonight:

Logan had a #askshay Twitter Q&A tonight after sharing a screengrab of some stick he’d taken from a Celtic fan:

That’s why he was then asked about his thoughts on Celtic and provided the clarification.

We get the feeling this won’t be the last time there’s a clash between Logan and supporters of the Hoops. They do have to face each other at least four times next season after all.
