Video: Jordan Pickford Saves Sweden Penalty For England Under-21s

Jordan Pickford summed up a brilliant week for him personally tonight by saving a penalty for England Under-21s against Sweden.

The junior Three Lions opened up their European Championships campaign and a match of few chances looked like it might be decided from the spot when Sweden were handed a penalty in the second-half.

Linus Wahlqvist of  IFK Norrköping stepped up slowly, and his central effort was all too easy for Pickford to get to:

This is only Pickford’s 11th cap for the Under-21s and if his impressive form keeps up, it won’t be too long before Gareth Southgate is forced to hand him a senior cap.

Some people might have raised a few eyebrows when Everton decided to fork out £30 million for Pickford earlier this week, but we’re willing to bet it’ll turn out to be an absolute bargain.
