Kevin Thomson has explained how close he came to pulling off a dream move to La Liga during his playing days, only for the deal to fall through at the final hurdle.
In the final instalment of his interview with Simon Ferry for Open Goal Sport, Thomson reveals he was offered the opportunity to move to Spain with Real Valladolid, who were still in the top-flight at the time.
The club’s short-term contract left Thomson unsure of what to do, but when they added two more years onto the table, it looked like the former Scotland international would be heading for sunnier climes.
He even went as far as getting through check-in at the airport before everything was dashed:
Whilst we’re glad Thomson stayed closer to home, we can help but be intrigued as to how his Spanish swansong would’ve played out.
Should more Scottish players try their luck on the continent?
