Video: Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho Misses Glorious Chance For Brazil v Argentina

Brazil were gifted a golden opportunity to take the lead against bitter rivals Argentina this afternoon – but Liverpool midfielder fluffed his lines at the very last moment.

The two footballing superpowers are currently in action in the Melbourne Cricket Ground as the slew of post-season friendlies continues into the sacred month of June, but just because there’s nothing at stake doesn’t mean the players will take it easy.

The South American sides are known to have a deep hatred for one another when it comes to football, and the strong line-ups on both sides is an indication of how seriously they’re taking things.

After 21 minutes, it looked like Brazil were ahead, after Chelsea’s Willian squared it to Coutinho, who had only the keeper to beat.

Most Liverpool fans would have bet their house on the net bulging, but the mercurial midfielder took just a touch too long to make his move:

Nine times out of ten, Coutinho absolutely buries that. Perhaps it’s been a bit of a long season for him.
