Video: Paolo Maldini’s Professional Tennis Debut Ends in Straight-Sets Defeat

Footballing legend Paolo Maldini‘s first foray into professional tennis ended in defeat earlier today after a straight-sets loss at the Aspria Tennis Cup in his home city of Milan.

The five-time European Cup/Champions League winner with AC Milan teamed-up with doubles partner Stefano Landonio after the 49-year-old managed to rack up enough qualification points, as we told you earlier this month.

Maldini and Landonio might have gone on to lose 6-1 6-1, but as you’ll see in the clip below, neither are any mug and the ex-Italy captain definitely knows his way around a tennis court, as well as a football pitch:

Personally, we’ve always been paid-up members of the Paolo Maldini fan club but, in a way, we’re ever so slightly happy that he lost because isn’t it just annoying when somebody is so bloody good at everything?!

Only joking, Paolo.

We’re sure we’ll see you hitting aces again very soon!
