Aberdeen have confirmed that Shay Logan has signed a new deal at the club tonight, a contract which will keep the defender at Pittodrie until 2020.
And Dons fans appear to be over the moon with the news.
Logan was among the top performers in Derek McInnes’ squad last season, as Aberdeen pipped Rangers to second place in the league.
The 29-year-old joined the club on loan from Brentford in 2014, before signing a permanent deal later that season.
And the move has definitely paid off for the ex-Manchester City star.
Logan has since been named in the SPFL Team of the Season and has went from strength to strength under McInnes’ watchful eye – something most Aberdeen fans acknowledged as they celebrated the player’s commitment on Twitter:
PHENOMENAL NEWS @Shay2920! Love watching you play and can't wait to see you mug off Griffiths again this season.

Has to be up there with Joe Lewis and Rooney as the gaffers best signing. Not much between them.

Terrific business from The Dons. Shay Logan has hardly put a foot wrong since joining the club.

Speaking to Aberdeen’s official website, Logan said, “The reason I’m staying is because I have been treated so well by the club and the fans.
“I have been looked after really well, I’m happy here so the new deal was very welcome.
“I am glad the club and the manager have faith in me so want me to stick around.”
Aberdeen’s form in recent seasons has undoubtedly influenced Logan’s decision to extend his stay in the Granite City.
However, time will tell as to whether Logan and his teammates can replicate last season’s achievement of separating the Old Firm once again next year.
