We now have a reason for UFC Women’s Featherweight champion Amanda Nunes’ removal from the main event title fight against Valentina Shevchenko.
Nunes posted a statement on Instagram describing the whole ordeal:

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinus cavities, and it often results in painful, reoccurring headaches, facial pain, and a constant runny nose. Chronic sinusitis lasts for extended lengths, and is usually caused by some sort of infection.
The pressure is indeed often immense and painful, but there doesn’t seem to be any results on what happens if sinusitis is combined with facial trauma, although a broken nose can often result in sinusitis.
Dana White claimed that doctors had cleared Nunes to fight, and that Nunes’ decision to pull out was “90% mental.” He also claimed that Nunes would never headline another UFC card, though he said the same thing about Jon Jones, who is, as of now, headlining UFC 214.
Early Wednesday, the champion posted pictures of herself signing autographs at International Fight Week with the caption #september9,” alongside a Canadian flag emoji.

September 9 is the date for UFC 215, scheduled to be held at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is interesting to note that the card has no title fight at the moment.
