Billy Gilmour got his Chelsea career off to a great start this morning by scoring a double against Southend.
The Scottish midfielder moved from Rangers to Stamford Bridge in a £500,000 deal over the summer and is now busy working on breaking into the first team.
Given he’s only 16, that’ll no doubt be a while away from happening, but it’s good to see he’s started his career there so well.
Gilmour started the pre-season friendly against Southend Under 23s and was instrumental for Jody Morris’ development team as they won 5-1.
And the midfielder confirmed his impact with a tweet post-match:
Delighted to make my first appearance in a Chelsea top today against Southend 23s, scored 2 and assisted 1 ?⚽️ #CFC

Big things are expected of Gilmour and the hope must be that his development will be much better at Chelsea given the quality of the players he plays with and against.
In Morris, he has a coach who is well aware of what it takes to play in Scotland and England so that could be a very fruitful relationship for the youngster.
