Celtic fans are rallying behind Scott Sinclair this afternoon after a racist bonfire image emerged online.
The Hoops winger has been the subject of racial abuse again after a sign appeared on a bonfire in Belfast which read: “Scott Sinclair loves bananas.”
According to irishnews.com, the banner was displayed on a bonfire in the car park of the Avoniel Leisure Centre in east Belfast:
The banner has since been removed, but not before being pictured and shared virally on social media.
Celtic fans are obviously among those furious about the sign – and have taken to social media to show their support for Sinclair, calling on their fellow supporters not to share it:
Sinclair has been subject to racial abuse before already in his Celtic career.
After scoring in a game against Rangers at Ibrox, cameras picked up a supporter making monkey gestures in his direction and that led to a strong reaction within Scottish football.
Sinclair will be in the Celtic team which travels to Northern Ireland later this week to play against Linfield in the first leg of their Champions League second round qualifier.
