David Meyler Jokes He’s On His Way to Liverpool As Eldin Jakupović Exit Nears

David Meyler joked that he’s on his way to sign for Liverpool as Eldin Jakupović’s Hull exit nears.

The Irish midfielder was tweeting after the Hull goalkeeper left the club’s Portugal training camp to seal a move to Leicester City.

When Jakupović’s deal is confirmed, it’ll make him the third major exit of the summer and it doesn’t look like he’ll be the last with a number of players linked with moves away from the club.

While Andy Robertson to Liverpool may be a more realistic move this summer, Meyler joked that it’s actually him who’s heading to Anfield after team-mate Kamil Grosicki asked who’s next to go.

Meyler said goodbye to Jakupović on Twitter and made the Liverpool joke in response to Grosicki:

Grosicki wrote:

To which Meyler responded:

It might be a joke to some of the players, but it won’t be to the majority of fans who want to see their team bounce straight back up to the Premier League this season.

They’ve already lost Harry Maguire and Tom Huddlestone this summer, with Curtis Davies, Alex Bruce and Shaun Maloney also exiting at the end of their contracts too.

So will be next? We wouldn’t be surprised to see Robertson to follow Jakupović out of the door.
