Everton Fans Are Stunned Sunderland Are Paying Actual Money For Aiden McGeady

Sunderland are on the verge of paying a reported fee of almost £5 million for Aiden McGeady – and Everton fans are in a state of shock.

The Republic of Ireland international was told he had no future at the Toffees following the arrival of manager Ronald Koeman last summer, and spent last season on-loan at Championship side Preston North End.

Preston boss Simon Grayson has since moved to Sunderland – and the Newcastle Chronicle claim he’s determined to sign McGeady – and apparently he’ll pay up to £4.5 million for the former Celtic player.

After arriving at Goodison Park on a free transfer from Spartak Moscow back in 2014, McGeady barely kicked a ball for Everton, and made just 32 league appearances for the club.

Even the mere suggestion of somebody paying real, actual cash for him has Everton supporters celebrating:

Quite a reaction, eh?

Is McGeady really that bad? He did well in the Championship last season – so could he end up being a clever signing for Sunderland?
