John Terry has been confirmed as Aston Villa‘s new captain just weeks after joining the club.
The Chelsea legend surprisingly took the drop down to the Championship after spending all of his time in the Premier League with the Blues.
He’s a five-time winner of the competition and has won everything else in England so may have felt he was still good enough to play at the top level – despite turning 37 this December.
But Villa is Terry’s new club and they’ve handed him a big responsibility straight away by naming him as their captain:

It’ll no doubt be odd for Chelsea fans to see one of their heroes captaining another team, but Villa supporters won’t care.
He could be huge for them as they attempt to make it back into the Premier League after a year out of the division.
They’ll get to see him in action for the first time in today’s friendly against Shrewsbury at the Montgomery Waters Stadium.
