Jordan Rhodes Scores Twice, Comes off Injured and Gets Told His Wife is in Labour

It’s fair to say Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes has had an eventful evening.

The Scotland international was in action as the Owls lined up against National League North side Alfreton in a pre-season friendly tonight.

And Rhodes got off to a fantastic start, scoring two quick-fire goals to give his side a 2-0 lead after just 24 minutes.

However, the former Blackburn Rovers star was then substituted shortly before the half-time interval, as he looked in discomfort with an apparent head injury.

As Rhodes left the pitch though, he was reportedly informed that his pregnant wife had went into labour.

According to the Yorkshire Posts’ Chief Football Writer, Richard Sutcliffe, the 27-year-old left the stadium immediately with his dad – who was in attendance:

Sutcliffe’s story was then backed up by freelance reporter Joshua Smith:

The news is yet to be confirmed by Rhodes or the club, however, tonight will undoubtedly go down as the most memorable in the frontman’s life if he’s managed to bang in two goals and become a father in quick succession.

We wish the family all the best!
