As we’re all fully aware, Gazza has endured a pretty torrid time since retiring from the game, and has been beset by mental and physical health issues over the last two decades.
But he seemed to be in great spirits today as a Newcastle side made up of legends took on a Felling team at Dunston UTS to raise funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.
The charity match was nicknamed the Pav Cup, in honour of late Toon goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek, who passed away in December 2015.
The likes of Keith Gillespie, Peter Beardsley, Steve Howey and Steve Harper all turned out for the Newcastle side but there was no denying who the star attraction was:

It’s great to see him in such great condition, both physically and emotionally.
A goal, a trophy and all of the adulation?! This football lark’s not too bad, eh Gazza?
