The Boston Celtics signed franchise legend Paul Pierce to a one day contract. This allows the future Hall of Famer to retire as a Celtic.
Pierce announced that his 19 year NBA career would be coming to an end during last season, which he spent teaming up with his old Celtics’ coach Doc Rivers at the Los Angeles Clippers.
Fans will always associate ‘The Truth’ with the Boston Celtics. This is despite spending the last 4 seasons at the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Clippers.

His 15 seasons spent in Boston reached the pinnacle in 2008 when the Celtics clinched their 17th NBA championship.
In that series against arch rivals, Los Angeles Lakers, Pierce finished with averages of 21.8pts, 4.5reb and 6.3ast.
Paul Pierce is a constant in the Celtics’ all-time leaderboards. He is the 2nd all-time leading scorer with 24,021 points. Pierce meanwhile tops the list in 3pt field goals (1,823), free throws (6,434) and steals (1,583).
He is 3rd in games played, minutes played & field goals, 4th in blocks, 5th in assists and 7th in rebounds. Overall he produced averages of 21.8pts, 6.0reb and 3.9ast during his time in Boston.
Some might see the ceremonial contract signing as a bit of a gimmick. However the majority of basketball fans will believe this a fitting conclusion. Pierce will have his jersey hanging from the rafters one day.
