And that must be taken as a sign that the Spanish manager is giving the young English winger a chance to prove himself good enough for the City first team.
Roberts has just finished a very successful 18-month loan spell at Celtic in which he won four major trophies and gained plenty of European experience.
The tricky winger became a fans’ favourite with Hoops supporters and the majority would love to see him back at the club on a permanent basis if City didn’t deem him good enough to play.
But Guardiola deciding to include him in the tour travelling party suggests that he’ll get a chance to impress at City, at least in the short term, and that will offer less hope to everyone at Celtic that he could return to the club.
City fly out to America today and Manchester Evening News reporter Stuart Brennan confirmed Roberts’ presence:

Roberts showed enough in his time at Celtic to suggest he’s worth a look for Guardiola and the US tour should give him a big chance to impress the Spanish manager.
The former Fulham man earned comparisons to Lionel Messi at times in his career and there’s no better person to judge that than Guardiola himself.
