Scott Brown Shares Pound Coin Meme After Linfield Game

Scott Brown shared a pound coin meme on Instagram after Celtic‘s heated game against Linfield on Friday night.

The Hoops captain played the full 90 minutes as his side won 2-0 to put them in the driving seat for the second leg of their Champions League second round qualifying tie on Wednesday night.

There was much made of the atmosphere in and outside Windsor Park ahead of the game, but it passed without much incident until Leigh Griffiths was involved in an incident with Linfield fans in the second half.

As he took a corner, the Celtic striker was targeted with coins thrown from the stands and then picked up a glass bottle that was thrown just past him on to the pitch.

Bizarrely, the referee decided to book Griffiths for his part in it all – and that’s led to widespread sharing of it all across social media.

But Brown has moved to play down it all by sharing a meme on Instagram this afternoon:

@smooney357 if u can't laugh at yourself what can u do 😂😂😂

Brown joked post-match that he picked up a pound thrown from the crowd so came away with profit from the game.

None of it should matter much given Celtic are in the ascendancy in the tie and heavy favourites to play either Dundalk or Rosenborg in the next round.
