St Johnstone Claim Niko Kranjcar Was Asked to Leave Their Friendly v Rangers After Screaming at Referee

Niko Kranjcar was told to leave Rangers‘ friendly with St Johnstone this afternoon after screaming at the referee, according to the Perth club.

Tommy Wright’s Saints side are taking on Pedro Caixinha’s men at Auchenhowie in a closed doors friendly this afternoon.

Both teams exited the Europa League early and were left with a big gap in their pre-season calendar before the Premiership campaign starts at the beginning of August.

So they’re playing against each other today in a bid to gain some much-needed match sharpness – but Kranjcar won’t be getting much after playing just 35 minutes of the first half.

St Johnstone are providing live updates on Twitter of the game and claim the Croatian playmaker was asked to leave the pitch after screaming at the referee:

It’s a bizarre update given it’s only a friendly, but shows Kranjcar would probably have been sent off had the game been competitive.
