Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is well versed in the workings of the transfer market, showcasing his ability to sidestep difficult questions last .

The Anfield club are of course still being linked with a move for Southampton skipper Virgil Van Dijk – despite narrowly escaping punishment for allegedly “tapping up” the Holland international.

And Klopp is clearly keen to avoid any of the media’s latest booby taps as the rumours persist that he is desperate to bolster his defence with the ex-Celtic defender.

Speaking following last night’s 4-0 pre-season friendly victory over Tranmere, Klopp admitted he probably isn’t allowed to speak about the player.

Klopp even claimed he was in Iceland while the speculation gathered momentum that Liverpool were closing on the Dutchman over night:


Is Van Dijk worth the reported £50 million plus figure which is being plastered across the back pages of most British newspapers?

Or should Liverpool look for a cheaper and far less controversial option, especially given the allegations that thet tried to tap up the player?
