Phil Foden and Sergio Aguero make up a pre-season bromance we didn’t expect to love.
The Manchester City youngster emerged as one of the club’s top talents earlier this week when he starred in the friendly clash with rivals United in Houston’s NRG Stadium.
He was so good that manager Pep Guardiola praised him in the press after the match, saying: “I don’t have words – I would like to have the right words to describe what I saw. You are the lucky guys who saw the first game, for the first team for Manchester City, of this guy.
“It’s a long time since I saw something like this. His performance was another level. He’s 17-years-old, he’s a City player, he grew up in the academy, he loves the club, he’s a City fan and for us he’s a gift.
“He will stay with us training with us in the pre-season and maybe he’ll stay with us in season because he’s special.”
Now it appears Guardiola isn’t the only one at City who’s a fan of Foden – Aguero is too.
As pointed out by CityTV, the pair have been spending a lot of time together during the club’s pre-season training.
And after being told of Foden’s love for him, Aguero was only too happy to repay the compliment:

Good on a player as established as Aguero to take Foden under his wing like this.
Fans will be hoping the youngster can continue impressing in pre-season before getting a regular squad place for the new campaign.
Guardiola’s comments certainly suggest he’s got a chance of playing a part this season and that will come as a big boost to a City youth academy that has struggled to push through a top talent in recent years.
