Wayne Rooney Posts Classy Goodbye Message to Manchester United

Wayne Rooney has personally thanked the staff, fans and team-mates at Manchester United after his 13-year spell at Old Trafford came to an end this weekend.

The 31-year-old striker joined United back in the summer of 2004 from boyhood club Everton, and he went on to become one of the club’s most successful modern-era players.

Aside from winning every trophy available to him at club level, Rooney went on to become United’s all-time record scorer – overtaking the likes of Dennis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton.

As we told you earlier today, Rooney has now re-joined Everton on a two-year deal after it became apparent last season that his days were numbered with the Red Devils.

He’s paid a really nice tribute on social media today to pretty much everybody who helped him during his time at the club:

There’s no doubting Rooney’s legendary status at United – but how will he get on back at Goodison Park?

What do you think?
