Jack Wilshere‘s Arsenal career is apparently hanging by a thread today following his slightly bizarre red card in an Under-23 match last night but the club’s supporters are throwing their weight behind him.
The England international was playing for the club’s junior side in a match against Manchester City at the Emirates when he was shown a straight red card after becoming embroiled in a scuffle with several opponents, following a heavy tackle from Matthew Smith.

Given the fact Wilshere has been reduced to fighting with youngsters in reserve matches, rather than helping Arsene Wenger’s first-team in their title fight, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that his days with the Gunners might be numbered.
But it appears a lot of Gooners on social media have let it be known that perhaps Wilshere’s reaction is exactly the kind of passion and fire lacking from Wenger’s current squad:
I don't mind that from wilshere tbf I'm more concerned with the city lad rolling round holding his face ? https://t.co/x3mNjN33AU

Don't see what's wrong with Wilshere's behavior for the u23s. He got clattered several times before reacting. Would've done the same myself

completely logical reaction from Wilshere, nothing to cry about

Honestly I don't have a problem with what wilshere did there. Man literally got body checked like he's playing hockey

Choosing a pic that deceives the readers when Wilshere only shoved him. Typical of The Sun https://t.co/M2A4iEmuoi

I can completely understand Wilshere's reaction and frame of mind after the tackle, but I also still think he overreacted.

Get Jack Wilshere back in the starting XI please @arsenal

Not going to condone retaliation, but maybe Wilshere's reaction understandable after such a long time out. Good to see the old Jack back…

Wilshere ain't done nothing wrong imo ??. It's okay to retaliate

Media coverage of Jack Wilshere's sending off is almost trying to end his Arsenal career! Arsenal need that kind of passion! ???

What do you think of the situation? Does Wilshere still have a future at Arsenal?
