The 24-year-old has endured a mixed time to say the least since arriving at the Emirates just over 12 months ago, and his languid and uninspiring performance against Liverpool on Sunday led to a torrent of abuse from Gooners online.
But his patchy form doesn’t seem to have hurt his reputation in his homeland of Switzerland, where he has just been named the country’s best footballer.
With all due respect to Switzerland, he probably wasn’t up against too much – but that didn’t deter supporters from giving him and his employers absolute dog’s abuse on social media:
