Arsenal Fans Are Brutally Trolling Granit Xhaka After He Wins Swiss Award

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has been named the Swiss Footballer of the Year – but the Gunners’ media team are probably regretting congratulating him on Twitter.

The 24-year-old has endured a mixed time to say the least since arriving at the Emirates just over 12 months ago, and his languid and uninspiring performance against Liverpool on Sunday led to a torrent of abuse from Gooners online.

But his patchy form doesn’t seem to have hurt his reputation in his homeland of Switzerland, where he has just been named the country’s best footballer.

With all due respect to Switzerland, he probably wasn’t up against too much – but that didn’t deter supporters from giving him and his employers absolute dog’s abuse on social media:

Poor Granit, eh? Even when he’s winning awards he’s getting abused.

What do you think of his spell at Arsenal so far, and does he still retain a long-term future at the club?
