Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka Covered An Incredible Distance Against Leicester

Granit Xhaka hasn’t always been the most popular player amongst Arsenal supporters but the Swiss international started this season by putting in a remarkable display against Leicester City – as his stats prove.

The combative midfielder was at the heart of the Gunners’ 4-3 victory at the Emirates on Friday night, as he claimed two assists for both Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud’s decisive goals in the final seven minutes.

His general play on the ball was impressive, but even more outstanding was his work-rate, with Xhaka outrunning every other player in the entire English Premier League over the weekend.

According to the Mirror, Xhaka managed to run a whopping 7.6 miles throughout the 90 minutes, which works out at just over 12km.

Despite the likes of Paul Pogba, Christian Erikson and Henrikh Mkhitaryan running riot in their respective matches, nobody managed to get close to Xhaka in terms of distance covered.

As we’ve told you previously, Xhaka has often taken stick for his displays since arriving in England 12 months ago, but could this be his breakout season?
