Bolt is known to be a massive football fan – particularly of Manchester United – and has been offered a trial with Borussia Dortmund in the past, but it seems as though Burton’s offer might actually have some substance.
The English Championship side are currently bottom of their division after a poor start to the current campaign, and chairman Ben Robinson seems keen to add a bit of pace to their forward line.
Speaking via the Mirror, Robinson was quoted as saying: “I’m sure we would (offer a trial) and that the manager (Nigel Clough) would. He’s quick, if nothing else!
“He’s done great for his sport athletics and if you look at Adam Gemili who was in the 4x100m relay he played football when he was younger.
“We would be very interested, obviously.”
One of the world’s most recognisable athletes, Bolt brought the curtain down on his top-flight athletics career at the World Championships in London on Saturday night, as he pulled his hamstring and limped out of the 4×100 relay race.
So, if he was to sign for any club, he’d probably need a good couple of months to get himself match-fit.
Do you think he could hack it on a cold Wednesday night in the English lower leagues?
