If Patrick Roberts is going to rejoin Celtic this season it looks like it won’t be until after their Champions League double-header against Astana.
The Manchester City midfielder spent 18 months on loan at Parkhead and fans quickly fell in love with him after some sensational performances.
Ever since the 20-year-returned to the Etihad, he has been linked with a move back to Glasgow and fans have been getting excited in recent weeks with growing rumours.
Roberts’ brother, Adam, sent a Tweet earlier which appeared to pour cold water on links with Southampton.
However, any hopes of Roberts taking to the field before the Hoops know their Champions League fate appear to be dashed after the winger was included in City’s squad for a warm-weather training camp.
Pep Guardiola’s side will take on La Liga new-boys Girona on Tuesday evening before their second Premier League match against Everton on Monday.
Roberts is less than likely to play any part against the Toffees but his inclusion in the travelling squad to Spain confirms that he won’t be signed before tomorrow’s deadline.
