Chris Sutton Believes Leigh Griffiths ‘Would Stroll’ English Premier League

Chris Sutton believes Leigh Griffiths ‘would stroll’ the English Premier League.

The BT Sport pundit has been tweeting after covering Celtic’s Champions League playoff first leg clash against Astana in Glasgow tonight.

He watched on as Brendan Rodgers’ men dismantled their Kazakh opponents to win 5-0 courtesy of an own goal, Scott Sinclair double,  James Forrest goal and Griffiths’ deflected effort.

Griffiths’ goal could end up going down as an own goal given the ball looked like it wasn’t heading on target after leaving his boot.

But he probably deserves the goal after his performance, which included two assists and earned a rave review from Steven Gerrard in the BT Sport studio post-match.

Sutton was quick to add his praise to Griffiths too, tweeting that the Scottish striker ‘would stroll’ the Premier League if he was to get a move south:

That’s a bold shout from Sutton considering Griffiths, at one stage, wasn’t even a starter in the Celtic.

But, with Moussa Dembele’s injury, he’s the number one striker in the Hoops squad and tonight’s performance should see him continue in that role even if the powerful Frenchman returns to fitness.
