Spurs left-back Rose has developed into one of the club’s most important players over the last few seasons but he risked his reputation and place in the team earlier this summer when he gave a very forthright interview on his disapproval of the club’s signing policy.
At the time, the England international said via the Telegraph that Spurs needed to be signing more established household names, adding: “not players you have to Google and say, ‘Who’s that?’ I mean well-known players”.
And given the fact very few football fans had even heard of Foyth until he was announced as a Tottenham player today, plenty of fans online have been cracking the same joke at Rose’s expense:

To be fair, we had to Google Foyth as well, but the 19-year-old already has 12 caps for Argentina’s Under-20 side, so he can’t be too bad.
The irony is that if Spurs did constantly sign players that you didn’t need to Google then Rose probably wouldn’t have been given such a big opportunity in the club’s first-team several years ago.
Just a thought.
